Astilbes
Astilbes are herbaceous perennial which bear distinctive, tall, feathery plumes of flowers in summer. They are at the same time eye-catching and delicate, and make ideal companions to Hostas, candelabra Primulas and Ligularias. Astibles like damp soil and partial shade, so ideal for planting near a pon or bog garden, or if you have heavy clay soil. Below is a sample of Astilbe varieties that we stock over the summer months

Other damp and shade-loving plants
All the plants listed below also thrive in damp or shady conditions, or both. Lythrum, also known as Loosestrife, is an impressivvely tall perennial that is particularly at home at the edges of ponds, in full sun or partial shade. Candelabra primulas make beautiful additions to damp areas, with their vivid flower atop strong stems.
